The Welfare Department has begun a phased reopening of intake for its elderly assistance scheme, starting with district offices in Perak, Kedah, Kelantan, Sabah, Sarawak and Johor. Applications are assessed on household income and the absence of family support, and can be submitted at any district office with identity documents and a utility bill.
Households already receiving assistance do not need to reapply. Applicants who were turned down previously may reapply if circumstances have changed since the original decision.
