Caregiving

Most people become carers without applying for the job. It starts with driving a parent to a clinic appointment and ends with negotiating with a nursing home while holding down a full-time role. This section is for that person: how to have the conversation about driving, what a domestic helper can and cannot legally do, how to arrange respite so you can sleep, and how to divide the work with siblings without a family argument. We cover Malaysian specifics — JKM welfare assistance, the Care Centres Act, and the informal networks that actually help on the ground. Our caregiving guides are written by contributors who have done it themselves — negotiated the agency contract, sat the night shift, had the driving argument out with a sibling — and who name the welfare offices and regulations they dealt with along the way.
